Marion County Commission Approves Budget Amendment

MARION COUNTY, Kan. — Marion County Commissioners Tuesday approved an amendment to the 2025 budget for the Road and Bridge Department’s special equipment fund.

County Administrator Tina Spencer said the amendment is being made because the fund’s beginning balance was much higher than anticipated when the budget was developed last year. Even though it has the funds on hand, it could not expend those funds without amending the budget.

This fund is used for such things as truck, tractor and grader purchases for that department.

During their end of the month payday meeting, The Commission approved a letter of support for a moderate-income housing grant being sought by the City of Peabody, which involves several other organizations, including Peabody Main Street whose Brian Simmons presented the request.

It also met with Marion County Leadership program participants.
