Andale Weekly Wrap: Fall Sports Maintain Success as Regular Season Winds Down

ANDALE, Kan. — Fall sports continue to be successful as the regular season winds down with the postseason in sight. 

Volleyball 

Now ranked third in Class 4A, Andale began the week with its first two home wins of the season winning both matches in straight sets last Tuesday. Andale defeated Augusta, 25-8 and 25-9 and Buhler, 25-11, 25-16. Andale capped off the week by winning the Newton Invitational by defeating Newton (25-11, 25-15), Eisenhower (25-14, 25-14), Andover Central (25-12, 25-17), and Wichita Northwest (28-26, 25-18).  

Andale (21-1) will travel to Wellington on Tuesday to face the Crusaders and Rose Hill. 

Cross Country

The Andale boys won the Crimson Division of the Rim Rock Classic on Saturday. Andale won the meet with 91 points, 15 ahead of runner-up Basehor-Linwood. Andale had four runners place in the top 20, led by Jack Cutler, finishing sixth with a time of 17:23.35. Roman Lubbers finished 13th (17:45.31), Sam Pavelski took 17th (17:48.40), and Dustin Buchanan was 19th (17:50.51). On the girls side, Andale competed in the Blue Division and finished 19th as a team. Ayvah Banda finished 17th with a time of 20:39.19. Andale will travel to Topeka for the Perry-Lecompton Invitational on Thursday. 

Girls Golf 

The Lady Indians played in the Buhler Invitational on Friday, held at Hesston Golf Course. Jacee Mattox and Sadie Aylward each shot a 91, good for 32nd and 35th. Billie Joe Chaffin finished 51st with a round of 98. Eva Krehbiel and Ali Wegerer finished 77th and 78th with rounds of 110 and 111. Peyton Jantz rounded out the lineup with a round of 113, good for 84th. As a team, Andale finished 11th with a 390. Andale will host a tournament on Monday at Cherry Oaks Golf Course.
