The Moundridge High School Varsity Volleyball team took the short road trip to participate in the Marion Spikefest Saturday, Sept. 20, falling in the championship game to get just their first loss of the season.
The Wildcats were in Pool A in the event, defeating Lyons (25-6, 25-19), Douglass (25-11, 25-13), and Berean Academy (25-23, 25-20) in straight sweeps. The 3-0 mark in pool play moved them onto the semifinals.
Moundridge defeated Central Christian Academy in a three-set thriller (18-25, 25-18, 25-21) to punch their ticket to the tournament championship, where they would face Halstead. Moundridge won the first set in the title game 25-16, but Halstead stormed back to win a close second and third set (25-22, 25-23), giving Moundridge just their first loss of the season.
The Wildcats are now 20-1 on the season.
