STERLING — Sterling remained unbeaten Friday night, pulling away late to defeat Inman 60-47 in a high-scoring battle.

Running back Zane Farney led the Black Bears (3-0) with five rushing touchdowns, including long runs of 47 and 76 yards in the first quarter. Wyatt Newberry added two scores and a key interception, while quarterback Logan Isaac chipped in a short touchdown run.

Inman quarterback Malachi Brunk kept the Teutons (2-1) in the game with three touchdown passes and a rushing score. Kru Harris returned a kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown and caught a 5-yard scoring pass.

Sterling built separation in the second half behind Farney’s power running and Newberry’s clinching 29-yard touchdown run.

The Black Bears open district play next week at Ellinwood. Inman will look to rebound at home against Remington.
