ROSE HILL, Kan. — 13 seconds.
That’s all it took for Andale to score and never look back in a 53-13 victory over Rose Hill at Rocket Stadium on Friday night. The win improved Andale to 3-0 on the season and head coach Dylan Schmidt picked up his 100th win leading the Indians.
Sam Harp gave Andale the lead for good with a 63-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage. After Rose Hill threw an interception, Harp found Hunter Grimes for a 45-yard touchdown with 4:22 remaining in the first quarter. Afton Allaire made it 20-0 with a 7-yard touchdown run with 2:58 remaining in the opening quarter.
Andale had rushing touchdowns in the second quarter: a 15-yard run by Harp, a 3-yard run by Sam Kupeker and a 2-yard run by Noah Stanley. Rose Hill cashed in on an interception with KJ Jones’ 18-yard touchdown pass from Zane Ford with 43.5 seconds left before halftime.
Jack Horsch added a 21-yard touchdown run, and Kupeker added a 6-yard run with 8:03 remaining in the third quarter, which triggered a running clock for the remainder of the game. Rose Hill scored on a fumble recovery late in the third quarter.
The Indians recorded 385 yards of total offense with Harp rushing for 112 yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns, and 94 yards passing and a score. Andale held the Rockets to 47 yards of total offense and forced five turnovers.
Andale will continue its three-game road swing, facing Wichita Collegiate next Friday. Collegiate improved to 2-1 with a 42-0 victory over El Dorado in a game that was called at halftime due to the weather. The Midway Motors Drive to the Game begins at 6:30 p.m. on Andale Radio, the Ad Astra Radio App, and Ad Astra TV with kickoff at 7 p.m. from Collegiate.
