The Nickerson High School varsity volleyball team went 1-1 Tuesday night in a triangular at the Hays High School gymnasium. The Panthers lost to Hays and defeated Smoky Valley 25-20, 25-23.
The Nickerson varsity competes at the Ellsworth Invitational and the Panther junior varsity competes at the Lyons JV Tournament.
In other area volleyball matches Tuesday night:
• The Buhler High School varsity volleyball team defeated Mulvane 25-18, 25-23 and lost to McPherson 25-14, 25-11 Tuesday night at the McPherson College gymnasium.
The McPherson varsity defeated Mulvane 25-10, 25-19.
The JV matches were played at the McPherson High School gymnasium. No scores were available
• The Inman High School volleyball went 1-1 at the Inman Mod Quad Tuesday night.
Inman defeated Wichita Classical 25-14, 25-19 and lost to Sedgwick 26-24, 25-23.
Moundridge defeated Sedgwick 12-25, 25-22, 25-12 and Wichita Classical 25-8, 25-14.
“We have been plagued with injuries this season,” said Inman volleyball coach Kat Russell. “We have four key varsity players out with injuries. I was extremely proud of the entire team. We beat Wichita Classical and competed at a high level with Sedgwick.”
• The Halstead High School volleyball team swept matches from Kingman and Pratt. The Dragons defeated Kingman 25-13, 25-19 and Pratt 25-15.
• The Halstead JV volleyball team defeated Pratt 21-25, 25-16, 15-11 and Kingman 25-22, 25-17.
• The Halstead C volleyball team defeated Pratt 25-20, 25-9 and lost to Kingman 25-22, 25-19.
