Andale Fall Sports Teams Start Strong: Volleyball and Girls Golf Results

ANDALE, Kan. — Fall sports are underway in Andale with two teams competing during the final week of August. Two sports will begin their seasons this week. The cross country teams will travel to Clearwater on Thursday, while the football team will open its season at El Dorado on Friday.

Volleyball 

The sixth-ranked team in Class 4A, according to the Kansas Volleyball Association, opened its season with a 5-0 record, winning the Hutchinson Pool of the AVCTL Preseason Volleyball Tournament on Saturday at the Salthawk Activity Center. Andale did not drop a single set in its five matches, defeating Andover (25-16, 25-19), Dodge City (25-14, 25-18), Hutchinson (25-18, 25-19), Goddard (25-20, 25-19,) and Campus (25-11, 25-16). Andale will play in a tri at Mulvane against the Wildcats and McPherson on Tuesday.

Girls Golf

Billie Jo Chaffin was the top finisher for Andale at the Class 4A State Preview on Thursday at Carey Park in Hutchinson. Chaffin shot a round of 98, good for 37th. Jacee Mattox finished in a tie for 45th with a score of 100. Peyton Jantz finished 68th with a 112. Sadie Aylward was 71st with a 113. Eva Krehibiel rounded out the lineup for Andale with a 135, good for 90th. Andale finished 14th as a team with a score of 422. Andale will travel to Hesston for the Hesston Invitational on Thursday at Hesston Golf Park.
