The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team posted a 3-1 record at the McCook Labor Day Classic Friday and Saturday at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center on the McCook CC campus.
Hutchinson opened tournament play with a four-set win over McCook CC 25-16, 23-25, 25-18, 25-17 Friday morning.
The Blue Dragons lost to Amarillo College 25-20, 25-13, 25-23 Friday afternoon.
On Saturday, the Blue Dragons defeated Lamar (Colo.) CC 25-20, 25-23, 25-11 and North Platte CC (Neb.) CC 20-25, 15-25, 25-22, 25-17, 15-12.
Atlyn Proctor’s kill on match point No. 3 gave the Blue Dragons the victory over North Platte.
Hutchinson CC volleyball coach Dayana Acevedo Trent posted 98-29 record during her four years as Odessa College (Texas) head volleyball coach. A 4-3 start with HutchCC gives her a 102-32 career record.
The Blue Dragons opened the season with a 1-2 record at the Iowa Western Reiver Classic Aug. 22-23.
Hutchinson will host Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference rival Barton CC at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
