Buhler varsity, JV girls tennis players competing at Hesston, Maize South meets Thursday

The Buhler High School varsity girls tennis team will compete Thursday at the Hesston Invitational and the Buhler JV girls tennis team will participate in the Maize South JV Tournament.

Both meets start at 3 p.m.

The Buhler varsity squad competed at the Wichita Collegiate Classic varsity meet Saturday and and the Crusaders JV hosted the Buhler Invitational JV meet on Tuesday.

The Class 4A Crusader varsity girls tennis team placed eighth out of 12 teams at the Collegiate meet. The field consisted of mostly 5A and 6A teams.

Defending Class 4A state singles champion Sofia Spies placed fourth in singles at the Collegiate meet and Danyka Sutton placed 23rd.

In doubles, the Buhler duo of Emily Allen and Kylee Bradshaw placed 11th and the team of Katelyn Harding and Payton Thompson placed 21st.

The Crusaders JV placed second at the eight-team Buhler JV meet.

Buhler’s Addy Tech placed first in No. 1 singles and Brailey McIntire placed third in No. 2 singles.

In No. 1 doubles, the Buhler team of Payton Barnes and Audrey Koester placed second. The No. 2 doubles team of Hannah Kinast and Naomi Cano finished third.
