HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Congratulations to this week’s Athlete of the Week, AJ Gooch, a senior this year at Hutchinson High School.
The week – Gooch competed in the team side of the annual Salty Dog Triathlon on Saturday at Carey Park. Gooch did the swimming leg, and her 400-meter swim time of 5 minutes, 54 seconds was the best in the team competition.
The season – Gooch, who will be a senior at Hutchinson High, had a strong junior season that saw her swimming in two events on the final day of the Class 5-4-3-2-1A state meet in Topeka. Gooch finished 16th in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:35.41, and Gooch was seventh in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:12.27.
