A Hutchinson woman has entered a plea in connection with a fatal hit and on the south edge of Newton in April 2024, Under a plea agreement.
Samara Maple admitted at a hearing in Harvey County District Court Tuesday to leaving the scene of a felony accident. Maple was charged with striking Laurie Robinson of Newton, whose body was found on an embankment beneath the Southeast 24th street bridge over I-135.
The plea agreement recommends the high number in the applicable sentencing grid box, which is anticipated to be presumptive probation, with any sentence to run consecutively to any prior case, and that she serves 42 days in jail over the next two years, along with a two-year suspension of her driver’s license.
Maple is also being required to provide a full factual basis accounting for her actions prior to the time of the collision until she came into contract with law enforcement. She will be sentenced by Harvey County District Judge Jason Lane on Oct. 14.Â
