Emergency Train Stop Near Canton Prompts Response from Multiple Agencies

McPHERSON COUNTY, Kan. — There were some scary moments late Friday night near Canton a report came in saying a person was lying on the Union Pacific Railroad tracks near the McPherson County Fairgrounds.

About 11 PM Friday a train had to make an emergency stop, and multiple agencies responded including the Canton and McPherson Fire Departments, Canton EMS, McPherson County Sheriff’s deputies, and railroad personnel.

After an extensive search, no evidence was found that anyone had been struck by a trail, after which normal rail operations resumed.
