Bat Cats Unable to Overcome Strong Aviators Start, Fall 9-4

GREAT BEND, Kan. – The Great Bend Bat Cats fell Tues., July 15 at home against the Haysville Aviators 9-4 after the opposition had a strong start to the contest.

Haysville led 4-0 through three innings on a pair of RBI hits by the Aviators, but ballooned the lead in the 7th inning on a grand slam by Eric Nuno, making the score 8-0. Great Bend finally got on the board in the bottom of the 7th on a Logan Renken home run, a Cole Pladson RBI triple, and an Andrugh Yee RBI single.

The Aviators and Bat Cats each traded a run following the seventh inning, but the deficit was too much to overcome, handing Great Bend the loss at home. Jacob Field got the loss on the mound, but he struck out seven batters in six innings.

Great Bend falls to 17-13 on the season. They will be on the road for a doubleheader against the Kansas Cannons Wed., July 16. Game one will begin at 6 p.m. and game two at around 8 p.m. The Bat Cats’ final home game is Fri., July 18 against the Kingman Islanders.
