GREAT BEND, Kan. – The Thursday matchup between the Great Bend Bat Cats and Hutchinson Monarchs did not even see six full innings due to inclement weather, but the Bat Cats were unable to get a hit falling 11-1.

Great Bend did draw four walks and reached on a hit-by-pitch, but struggled on offense the rest of the way. The lone Bat Cats run came in the 5th inning on an RBI groundout by Luke Nohinek with the bases loaded following two walks and a hit-by-pitch.

Hutchinson took advantage of 14 overall hits, four of them going for extra bases, and three defensive errors by Great Bend. They put up one run early before leading 4-0 after the third inning, but a seven-run fourth inning skyrocketed the score. With the Monarchs on offense in the top of the 6th inning, lightning entered the area causing a weather delay. Both coaches came together and determined that the game had been played long enough to determine a clear winner, ending the game with an 11-1 Hutchinson win.

The Bat Cats fall to 15-12 on the season. They will be on the road against the Kansas Cannons Fri., July 11 at 7 p.m.
