LINDSBORG, Kan. — The Lindsborg City Council Monday adopted a resolution of intent to exceed the revenue neutral rate for the 2026 budget. As of now, the city is projecting a 55.874 mill rate, which would be just over two mill increase from the 2025 levy, and exactly two mills above the revenue neutral figure, which is what would raise the same tax dollars as for this year. The fact the RNR is slightly higher than the present levy is a big unusual, and that is partly related to some factors with the Stockholm Estates development. A hearing on exceeding RNR has been set for September 2nd.

The Council Monday approved the purchase of two high-capacity electric transformers. One of the transformers is to replace one that failed June 30th, which left some 140 customers without power for about four hours. This is a 158KV pad mounted transformer located on East Lincoln by MKC. The second transformer is to have a spare in the event one of ten larger transformers were to fail. Combined cost of the transformers, through Midwest Electric Transformer, comes to 49,575 dollars.

The Council also approved purchase of a new compact tractor-loader for the Golf Course, to replace one that is no longer operational or repairable. While the bid accepted from KanEquip was the middle of three bids submitted, this unit, which is in stock, will have the special turf tires needed for this application where on the other two bids there would be an additional cost to purchase the required tires.

The Lindsborg Community Library presented their 2026 budget request, for which they are asking for an additional $15,000 over their 2025 funding. Within their budget request is funds for professional services, particularly if grant activity were to reach a certain level that would require a separate audit

The Council also heard a presentation on the city’s tree inventory from Kansas Forest Service Community Forester Cody Kramer and approved a cereal malt beverage license for the Sale BARn, which will be on North Main.
