HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Hutchinson Monarchs players Tyson Vassart and Cole Toureau earned weekly honors from the Jayhawk Collegiate League Tues., June 24.
Vassart was named one of the league’s Position Players of the Week. The Hutchinson CC Blue Dragon and LaSalle, Manitoba, Canada native had a strong week between June 15-21 with a batting average of .455 including two doubles, a home run, and four RBI’s. He also hit a .600 on-base percentage and a .909 slugging percentage.
Toureau was named one of the league’s Pitchers of the Week after a strong showing on the mound in their win against the Junction City Brigade on Wed., June 18. In the 2-1 victory, the Pittsburg State Gorilla earned the win, throwing 5 2/3 innings, allowing just one hit, and striking out eight batters.
The Monarchs are currently 12-3 on the season and will be on the road against the Newton Rebels Wed., June 25 at 7 p.m.
