Monarchs bats come alive late, snag road win at Haysville

The Hutchinson Monarchs belted six extra-base hits Wednesday, and 13 hits overall, and avenged their first defeat of the season Tuesday by beating the Haysville Aviators 11-8.

The game featured a wild ninth inning, where each team scored six runs. The Monarchs scored nine of their 11 runs in the final two innings

Jeter Worthley led the hitting by going 3 for 5, including one triple. He also scored three runs and walked once.

JJ Spafford, Joey Senstock, Blake Bradford and Jake Knox added two hits apiece. Bradford had two doubles and three RBIs.

Tied 2-2 after seven innings, Bradford’s two-run double gave the Monarchs a 4-2 lead, and he scored on Knox’s single.

With two outs in the top of the ninth, six straight Monarchs reached base, and four runs scored.

Lachlan Rosser started for the Monarchs and pitched three shutout innings. Bradyn McClure got the win after pitching four innings and giving up two runs on three hits.

Russell Copous earned the save by striking out the last two Aviators.

The Monarchs will take a day off before playing Friday at Great Bend.
