McPHERSON, Kan. (CCCTigers.com) – It was senior night at Central Christian, and the Tigers were playing a huge game with SAC post season implications on the line. Tigers win, and they move to a 7th place tie, however, the Southwestern Christian Eagles were playing for the same thing, and same scenario. The Tigers were unable to top the Eagles as they dropped their 4th straight and fell at home 3-1.
Play started with a goal by the Eagles Katelyn Fisher at the 10:56 mark of the 1st half to jump to a 1-0 lead. The Tigers best chance at an equalizer in the 1st half was a Baylee Smith Shot at goal saved by the Eagles goalie, Lorelia Puglisi, and the game went to the half with a 1-0 Eagle lead.
The second half opened with each team matching shots at goal as the Tigers had a shot by Isabella Montano, and another by Stephanie Zazueta, both saved by Puglisi. After Zazueta’s shot, the Eagles were able to score a goal on Celena Vanhaezebrouck to take a 2-0 lead. Then at the 77:08 point of the 2nd half, the Eagles were able to score a goal on a Penalty Kick, to take a 3-0 lead. At 84:15, Baylee Smith was able to get her 5th goal of the season, assisted by Racquel John, to cut the lead to 3-1, which ended up being the final action as the Tigers saw their SAC post season chances come to a near close.
The Tigers (5-10, 1-7) play their season finale in Waxahachie, TX, to take on Nelson University (9-8, 4-4) on Tuesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 5pm and can be seen on the SAC Sports Network.
