Warriors Golf finish fourth at Pioneer Prairie Classic

Sterling College’s Tobias Tajet led the team with a seventh-place finish, carding a 5-over-par final score, as Sterling competed in the Pioneer Prairie Classic in Andover, Kan. on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 13-14. As a team, the Warriors finished fourth with a total score of +39 through three rounds.

The golfers competed at the Terradyne Country Club which has a course yardage of 6,828 and par of 71.

Tajet started strong with a 1-under par in the first round and maintained a competitive edge throughout the tournament despite a challenging final round at +4.

Anders Hermansen finished in a tie for 15th with fellow Warrior Sondre Storli Jensen who both finished with a score of +11. Hermansen’s performance was marked by a solid second round, where he shot even par, balancing his +3 and +8 scores in the first and third rounds, respectively. Jensen’s rounds included a consistent start with a +2 and +3 in the first two rounds, followed by a +6 in the final round.

Zach Surface was right behind the pair in 17th place, finishing with a +12 overall. Surface demonstrated resilience, improving his score to +1 in the second round after opening with a +3, before closing with a +8 in the final round.

Axel Vogt rounded out Sterling’s competitors, finishing 35th with a total score of +40. Vogt faced tough conditions, posting scores of +12, +13 and +15 across the three rounds.

The Warriors will be back in action next week on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 20-21 at the KCAC Match Play hosted at Mariah Hills in Dodge City, Kan.
