Warriors Come Up Short in McPherson

MCPHERSON, Kan. – Warrior Tennis faced off against a tough McPherson College team in a rescheduled match on Monday, March 30. Sterling fought hard but were unable to come away with a win, losing 7-0.

The Bulldogs started the day by claiming the doubles point. Fernando Vargas and Kazuki Fukushima took on Arthur Nardy and Hamish Wyatt in No. 1 doubles losing 6-1. In No. 2 doubles play, Rubem Bogomoltz and Pedro Felipoff faced Jayson Wasserfuhr and Bruno Barrientos Molina and lost 6-2. Adam King and Ibrahim Curtis-Kaduma teamed up to take on Balazs Temesvarti and Texas Ranger Schmidt but came up short 6-0.

Sterling continued to struggle in singles play as Felipoff lost to Nardy in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1. In No. 2 singles Vargas lost to Wasserfuhr 6-2, 6-2. King faced Barrientos Molina in No. 3 singles where he lost 6-2, 6-4. Fukushima took on Wyatt in the No. 4 singles match but came up short 6-1, 6-2. Bogomoltz battled in No. 5 singles play losing the first set against Temesvari 6-2 before securing the second set 6-0 but losing the tiebreaker 10-6. Curtis-Kaduma closed out the field in No. 6 singles play against Ayden Johnson where he came up short 6-0, 6-0.

The Warriors will look to bounce back as they take on Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kan. on Wednesday, April 1 with play set to follow the women’s matches that start at 3 p.m.
