Sterling battles against No. 9 ranked Bethel

STERLING, Kan. – Lady Warrior tennis faced a tough match up against the No. 9 ranked team Bethel College on Tuesday, March 17 and came up short 7-0.

The Threshers started by securing the doubles point with a 6-2 win in No. 1 double where Hannah Giordanelli and Danna Arroyo took on Daniela Casique and Sara Ladino and a 6-4 win in No. 2 doubles as Greta Fankhauser and Cylie LaTourell fell to Grace Dawes and Kate Rowland.

Sterling continued to battle in singles play but were unable to get a point. Arroyo faced Casique in No. 1 singles coming up short, 6-0, 6-2. Giordanelli found herself in a similar situation in the No. 2 singles match against Ximena Raya losing 6-1, 6-2.

In the No. 3 singles, Fankhauser lost 6-1, 6-3 to Patty Huerta and LaTourell lost 6-0, 6-1 to Jireh Gonzalez in the No. 4 singles play.

The Lady Warriors (0-5) will look to bounce back from the loss as they go on the road to take on the No. 25 ranked Texas A&M – Texarkana (18-2) in Texarkana, Texas on Thursday, March 19.
