WICHITA, Kan. – Sterling College women’s tennis matched up against Friends University on Monday, March 23. The Lady Warriors battled but were unable to come away with a win falling to the Falcons, 5-0.
Friends started hot with a sweep of the doubles matches. Danna Arroyo and Greta Fankhauser took on Silva Avakian and Carlotta Klee losing 6-4 in the No. 1 doubles match. In No. 2 doubles play, Hannah Giordanelli and Elysa Apen fell 6-0 to Aneth Diaz and Emma Sargeant.
Sterling continued to battle in singles play. Arroyo took on Avakian in the No. 1 singles match falling 6-1, 6-3. In No. 2 singles play, Giordanelli lost to Diaz 6-0, 6-0. Fankhauser took a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Klee in No. 3 singles play and Apen rounded out the field with a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Sargeant in the No. 4 singles match.
The Lady Warriors (0-8, 0-2) will be back in action on Saturday, March 28 as they take on Saint Mary (5-5, 3-3) in Sterling, Kan. starting at 11 a.m.
