WICHITA, Kan. – Sterling College Indoor Track and Field had a record-breaking outing at the 2026 Indoor KCAC Championship on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13-14. The men’s team finished sixth while the women finished eighth as a team. Charles Jones broke the school record in the high jump while eight Warriors set new personal bests at the meet.
For the men, Charles Jones led the Warriors in the jumps winning the high jump with a school-record clearance of 2.01m (6-07). He also won the triple jump with a mark of 14.61m (47-11.25) and placed third in the long jump with a mark of 7.03m (23-0.75).
Other jumpers for Sterling include Cedric Wilson who placed fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.96m (6-5.25). Kevin Jones and Tod Mastin both competed in the long jump where they finished 24th and 26th with marks of 5.31m (17-05) and 5.20m (17-0.75).
In the throws, Blake Robertson led the charge for Sterling. He finished third in the shot put with a throw of 15.50m (50-10.25) and third in the weight throw with a toss of 17.42m (57-02). Keaton Miller and Brayden Kermode also competed in the shot put where they finished 18th and 23rd with marks of 12.38m (40-7.5) and 11.94m (39-02), respectively. A personal best mark for Kermode. Kermode and Miller also competed in the weight throw. Kermode placed 12th with a personal best throw of 13.62m (44-08) while Miller finished 20th with a personal best mark of 11.67m (38-03).
On the track, Nazar Hayden represented Sterling in the sprints. The freshman finished 27th in the 60m dash with a personal best time of 7.39. David Sullivan, Hayden and Ian Chrisler all competed in the 200m dash running times of 24.19, 24.28 and 24.47 to place 30th, 33rd and 37th, respectively. A personal best time for Chrisler.
Sullivan and Chrisler also competed in the 400m dash running times of 50.09 and 54.27 to finish 20th and 21st, respectively. Another personal best time for Chrisler
In the distance races, Camryn Gantt finished 20th in the 1 Mile with a time of 4:53.86. Jace Gaston competed in the 5000m run, placing 21st with a personal best time of 17:21.95.
Hayden, Wesley Brantley, Gaston and Gantt teamed up to compete in the 4x400m relay. The team finished 11th with a time of 3:53.9. Gaston, Sullivan, Chrisler and Gantt also teamed up to compete in the distance medley relay. The team finished eighth with a time of 11:55.52.
For the women, Belle Barnett competed for the Lady Warriors in the high jump, placing second with a clearance of 1.66m (5-5.25). Sheridan Nguyen competed in the pole vault where she cleared 2.20m (7-2.5) to finish 12th.
In the throws, Briana Croisant finished 23rd in the shot put with a throw of 9.86m (32-4.25) and 27th in the weight throw with a mark of 10.18m (33-4.75).
On the track, Claire Miller scored points for the Sterling in the 1 Mile run finishing eighth with a person best time of 5:49.6. She also ran a personal best time in the 800m run where she finished ninth in running a 2:35.84. Also competing on the track was Audrey Blake. She finished 20th in the 1 Mile run with a personal best time of 6:56.75.
Up next, Sterling’s Charles Jones, Blake Robertson and Belle Barnett will compete at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships to be hosted in Gainesville, Fla. on Thursday-Saturday, March 5-7.
Jones will compete in the long and triple jump, Robertson will compete in the weight throw and Barnett will compete in the high jump.
