STERLING, Kan. — Each week, Ad Astra Radio recognizes different athlete’s outstanding achievements.
Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce Sterling High School senior Chelsie Brown as the Ad Astra Radio Athlete of the Week presented by Hutchinson Community College.
The week – Brown capped off an undefeated senior season by winning the Class 3-2-1A singles state championship on Friday and Saturday in Salina. In four matches, Brown didn’t drop a set. She won three sets 6-0, three more sets 6-1, one set 6-2 and the other 6-4. She beat Ellsworth’s Karli Haase 6-1, 6-2 in the championship match.
The season – Brown was dominant all season in compiling a 33-0 record and leading Sterling to a fourth-place team finish. Brown was also dominant in regionals, where she dropped only two games in four matches.
