Terri L. Troyer
1960-2026

Terri Lynne Troyer, 65, of Haven, died January 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at Ascension Via Christ-St. Francis, Wichita.  She was born January 23, 1960, in Wichita, to Wilford and LaFaye (Richardson) Smith. Terri was later adopted by Sherman Sampson when he married her mother, LaFaye.

Terri graduated from Haven High School in 1978, and from the Hesston College nursing program.  Terri was a dedicated registered nurse with a passion for taking care of others. From 1995-2015, she worked at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.  Terri served as a house supervisor, working in all areas of the hospital, from the intensive care unit to the emergency room.  After leaving the hospital, she worked in several local nursing homes, in home health, and taught certified nurse aide classes at Hutchinson Community College.

Terri appreciated spending time with friends, spoiling her dog, Gracie, and traveling (especially on cruises) with her husband, Tony.  Her hobby was her family; they meant everything to her.  Terri was a devoted and incredible wife, mother and nanny to her grandchildren. attending all their events and activities. Terri was a member of the former Yoder Mennonite Church, and most recently, attended Calvary Chapel, Hutchinson.

On September 8, 1979, she married her high school sweetheart, Tony Troyer, at her parent’s home, in Mount Hope.

Terri is survived by:  her husband of over 46 years, Tony of Haven; children, Jennifer Carmichael (Dustin) and their children, Ella, Kara and Logan, Stephanie Finan (Brian) and their children, Hunter Galloway (Matty) and their daughter, Maylee and Jameson Finan, Matthew Troyer (Jessica Farmer) and Matthew’s children, Maddix Troyer and Memphis Troyer of Haven; mother, LaFaye Sampson of Haven; mother-in-law, Judy Troyer of Yoder; sisters-in-law, Janell and Carma; and a niece, Jamie Rinehart.

She was preceded in death by:  her father, Sherman Sampson; father-in-law, Lester “Les” Troyer; and brother, Butch Sampson.

Celebration of Life service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Journey@Yoder Activity Center, 3605 E. Longview Road, Haven, with Pastor Luke Helmuth officiating. Nursing honors will be conducted by the Hutchinson Nurses Honor Guard.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2026, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hesston College (to benefit their nursing program) or Haven Community EMS, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.

You could always count on Terri to be there, helping those in need.  Through the gift of organ donation, her legacy will live on as she continues to help others.
