Sylvia E. Burt, 80, died April 21, 2026, at Coffey County Hospital, Burlington. She was born May 3, 1945, in Hutchinson KS, to John and Irene (Gritten) Barnhart.
On December 27, 1975, she married Walter LeRoy Burt, in Springfield, MO. They shared almost 47 years of marriage before he died on October 3, 2022.
She had a lifelong eye for beauty and detail. She loved transforming her home into a warm, inviting space and took great joy in interior design.
Sylvia is survived by: son, Anthony Burt and husband Sergio Adame-Burt of Lubbock, TX; daughter, Rochelle Rowley of Emporia; grandchildren, Damon Burt, Rachael Rowley, Kirsten Brooks, Andrew Burt; great grandchildren, Amara Brooks, Bentley Burt, Bradley Burt, Jaxson Brooks, Caitlyn Burt, and Abel Rowley.
She was preceded in death by her spouse; parents; brothers, Orville and Barney “BJ” Barnhart; and grandson, Tristan Rowley.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Hand in Hand Hospice in an Emporia KS, in care of Jones Funeral Home PO Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
