1944-2026
Steven Eugene “Steve” Locke, 82, died April 18, 2026. He was born March 12, 1944, in Hutchinson, to Gene Delbert and Lois P. (Garrison) Locke.
Steve graduated from Arlington High School in 1962 and attended Kansas State University. He was a farmer and previously a member of the Kansas Livestock Association, Reno County Cattleman’s Association, and a director at the Arlington Co-op. In addition, Steve was very active in Arlington’s Masonic Lodge- the former Cable Lodge #299, even serving as a Master Mason. After retirement, he enjoyed playing cards at the Delos V. Smith Senior Citizens Center.
On March 29, 1964, he married Patricia Baughman. They had three children: Tad, Stephany, and Scott, prior to their divorce in 1987.
Steve is survived by: daughter, Stephany Laib (Elliot) of Richardson, TX; son, Roger “Scott” Locke (Teri) of Larned; sister, Pam Scott (Alex); grandchildren, Rachelle McKay (Shannon), Jordan Geist (Julie), Tanner Rue (Jade), Natasha Locke, Aaron Mack, Tad Locke, Carly Kauffman (Calvin); 11 great-grandchildren; and companion, Donna Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Tad Douglas Locke.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Arlington Cemetery, with Pastor Keith Dellenbach officiating. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.
