Steven John StormAlbert, KS

Steven John Storm, a 26-year resident of Albert, passed away May 23, 2026, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.  He was born Feb. 14, 1956, in Hays, Kan., to Leo, Sr. and Irene (Miller) Storm. He went to catholic school at St Mary’s in Ellis and graduated from Ellis High School in 1974. He grew up working on the family farm and worked as a driller in the oilfield. In the 1990’s, Steve started his career with Flame Engineering in LaCrosse, retiring in 2023.

He married Jeannette (Roy) and had 2 children Kelly Heuer (Storm) and Sammuel Storm. They later divorced. He married Paula (Wegele) November 6, of 1999, at Albert, Kan.

He excelled at basketball, playing all four years in high school and earning a spot on the All League Team his senior year. He enjoyed shooting guns and fishing, especially with his brother, Bob.

Surviving family include his wife Paula of the home; children, Kelly Heuer and husband Derrick of Manhattan, Kan. and Sammuel Storm and wife Tara of Kearney, Neb.; stepson Mike Gowans and his partner Michele of Wichita. Grandchildren; Roree and Syrus Storm, and Evelyn and Emerson Heuer. Also surviving siblings are Darlene Colby of Tucson, Ariz., Jean Storm of Tucson, Ariz., and Mary Miller of Wichita.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Leo Sr. and Irene Storm; siblings, Bernard Storm, Leo Storm, Jr., Jim Storm, Robert “Bob” Storm, Anita Wompey, Joyce Storm and Betty Waldschmidt.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Father Amirtharajan Duraisamy presiding. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Galatia, Kan.  Visitation will be Friday 10:00 a.m. to service time at Bryant Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Home, Great Bend, KS  67530.
