Shirley Mae Jantz, 90, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at The Cedars in McPherson. She was born October 11, 1935 in rural McPherson, the daughter of Dave Christian and Hilda Kathrina (Flickner) Stucky.
Shirley attended Turkey Creek Country School and graduated from McPherson High School in 1954. She then attended Bethel College in Newton, KS.
Shirley was united in marriage to Lester Jantz on August 5, 1955 in Moundridge, KS. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons and a daughter, Steven, Tony and Angela.
Through the years Shirley was a homemaker, worked for Duckwalls as a clerk in the toy department from 1955-1956, worked for Harris Lumber Company in 1966, prior to becoming owner operator and partner of the lumber yard with her husband Lester. They changed the name to Jantz lumber Company in 1985 and continued their service and traditions with the McPherson community.
She enjoyed several bible study groups within the community, was co-shepherd of the T.L.C. Group, and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Shirley is survived by her children, Steven (Heidi) Jantz, Tony (Joleen) Jantz, and Angela (Jeff) Krehbiel, all of McPherson; brothers, Delano Stucky of McPherson and Stanley (Marsha) Stucky of Moundridge; sister, Peggy (Richard) Stein of Davis, CA; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester Jantz; and grandson, Adam.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2026 at New Hope Evangelical Church, McPherson. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at the church with Pastor George Bocox officiating. Burial will follow in McPherson Cemetery.
