Shirley Lankford July 16, 1944 – September 9, 2026 Forever loved, never forgotten. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Shirley Lankford, who went to be with our Lord on September 9, 2026, at the age of 82. Shirley was born in Osborne, Kansas, on July 16, 1944. At just 11 months old, Shirley was lovingly raised by the late Chancey and May Eaton, who cared for her until she was 17 years old. The love and care she received from those who raised her shaped her life and inspired her deep love for the elderly. Shirley dedicated 29 years of her life to caring for others as a certified nursing assistant. She spent 22 of those years at Haysville Healthcare in Haysville, Kansas. In May 2006, she retired from Howard Twilight Manor in Howard, Kansas. Caring for the elderly meant so much to Shirley, and she treasured the opportunity to give back to others. Shirley had a love for flowers and gardening, and her love for animals knew no bounds. But above all else, her family was her greatest pride and joy. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly, and the love she gave them will live on in their hearts forever. Shirley is survived by her beloved husband, Fred Lankford of Wichita; her son, Shawn Lankford of Wichita; and her son, Mark Lankford and his wife, Cheri, of Wichita. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her dearly. Direct cremation has taken place. In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, a private burial will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, Shirley requested that donations be made to Eureka Nursing Center, Eureka, KS, in honor of her lifelong love and dedication to the elderly. Shirley’s kindness, compassion, and unconditional love will be deeply missed. Her memory will forever bloom in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Rest peacefully, Shirley. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
