Sharon Kaye Carpenter
1939-2026

Sharon Kaye Carpenter, 86 of Chanute, Kansas was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
Sharon Kaye was born the only child of Clarence and Beulah (Wells) Kepler on November 3, 1939 in Canton, Illinois. Sharon graduated from Avon High School in 1957. She then married the love of her life, Charles “Chuck" Carpenter on July 20, 1958 in Avon, Illinois. The two were married for 61 years before his passing on April 4, 2020. In 1977, Sharon and the family moved to Chanute. While in Chanute, Sharon worked various locations as a bookkeeper.
Sharon was a woman of strong faith. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1953. After moving to Chanute, she joined the First United Methodist Church and was actively involved many of the church events, even working for the church as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Historical Society and BPW.  Sharon loved to travel, she took countless bus trips with her friends. Sharon may have grown up as an only child but she had countless friends she loved and considered brothers and sisters.
She is preceded in death by her dear husband, Charles “Chuck” Carpenter, and parents, Clarence and Beulah Kepler and son-in-law, Larry Roberts.
Her memory will carry on with her children, Michael (Debbie) Carpenter, Michelle (Dave) Roberts, and Mark Carpenter, grandchildren, Andy (Liza) Roberts, Caitlin (Zach) Kremer, David Carpenter, and Matthew Carpenter, and great grandchildren, Olivia Kremer, Everett Kremer, Bowen Kremer, and George Roberts.
Sharon will be laid to rest next to her husband in a private ceremony at Pleasant Hill Cemetery Avon, Illinois and the family will hold a memorial service in Chanute and Avon at a later date. Once the date, and time is determined the website of Countryside Funeral Home will be updated to reflect this information.
