Ruth Louise (Wiebe) Regehr, 95, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away in Rainbow Bend on February 27, 2026. She was born August 21, 1930, in Hillsboro, to Peter K. and Elsie Lizzie (Schroeder) Wiebe.
Ruth graduated from Walton High School, Walton, KS.
On September 20, 1959, she married Gus Regehr, in Walton.  Soon after, they moved to Hutchinson where they made their home until shortly before Gus’ death on February 11, 2019. Gus and Ruth moved to Rainbow Bend, KS, where they lived with Judy and Kathy.  After Gus died, Judy and Kathy provided Ruth with unconditional love, care, and pampering for the past seven years.
Ruth spent the early years of their marriage maintaining their home and caring for their three children. She was a seasonal employee at Dillons and was later employed by JoAnn Fabrics. Ruth was a longtime volunteer at the Et Cetera Shop, Hutchinson. Â In addition, she was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church in Inman (currently, Living Grace Church) where Ruth taught Bible school, Sunday school, and helped with church dinners. Â Ruth was service oriented, compassionate, and supportive of her family. She cooked many awesome family meals, cherished visits with family near and far, and enjoyed a good book and a fun board game. Ruth will be remembered as a loving grandmother, caring mother, a vivid storyteller, and a good friend.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Gus, her parents, sisters Ethlyn Goertz and husband Alvin, Inez Koehn and husband George, brother Jim Wiebe, nephews Jim, Stan and Steve Koehn, and niece Edith Schultz, along with Gus’s parents and siblings.
She is survived by her daughter Judy (Kathy) of Rainbow Bend, son Don (Marlene) of Great Bend, and son Leon (Ruth) of Clarinda, IA, sister-in-law Charlotte Wiebe of Newton, grandchildren Kyle (Amanda) Auffert and Heather (Brad) Auffert, Lance Regehr, Allison (Cav) Newman and Madison Regehr, great-grandsons Easton and Nolan Auffert, and several nieces and nephews. Ruth is also survived by the many kind friends and healthcare workers, and hospice employees who have provided her care for several years.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Elliott Chapel with Chaplain Julie Lashier officiating. Â Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
