1946-2026
Robert (Bob) Lee Bauer of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on June 9, 2026 at the age of 79. He was a devoted and loving father to his daughter Melissa and sons Chris and Blake. His wife of 29 years, Kayla, went to be with the Lord three years ago, and they are now joyfully reunited, fully healed, and together for eternity.
Bob was a lifelong Wichita-area resident and a true entrepreneur at heart. He owned and operated several small businesses over the years, including the Mademoiselle and Executive Fitness Centers, Golfland, and the former Cedar Pines Golf Course in Andover.
Born in Hastings, Nebraska, on September 14, 1946, Bob was the oldest of three boys. He excelled in athletics as an American Legion baseball player and a varsity wrestler at Hastings High School. A lifelong avid sports fan, his deepest passion was for his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers. His children still smile remembering his famous “long walks” after a tough loss. He also enjoyed following the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, eagerly breaking down key plays after big games.
Bob developed a special love for Colorado, where he frequently vacationed to hike and create lasting memories with his family.
He had a great appreciation for good food—loving to talk about it, prepare it, and share it—though his kids never quite let him live down the carrots in the spaghetti sauce.
In his later years, Bob became a wonderful listener and was always available for a heartfelt conversation. His children will miss him dearly. They learned so much from him and look forward to the day when they can once again enjoy hikes and football talks together. Until then, they will smile when the Huskers win, think of him while carving the Thanksgiving turkey, and find comfort knowing he is happy, whole, and waiting with open arms for that big reunion hug.
With love, Melissa, Chris, and Blake
