Richard Barron
1943-2026

Richard Barron was born in Los Angeles, California on November 20, 1943.  His parents were Esther Chavez and Robert Barron. Richard was loved and raised by his grandma.

In 1961 he entered the military. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine for over 5 years active duty including being called to Vietnam. After leaving he served 2 years reserve. Richard earned the Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.  He loved America and serving his country.  After his military service he mostly worked in construction for over 5 decades.

He married his love, Bonnie in 1973, and for over 53 years they shared a life together.  They traveled with construction for many years, living in many states, but eventually settled in Fredonia Kansas in 1989. He continued many construction jobs before fully retiring at the age of 73.

He was a simple man and a hard worker, and a master pipefitter. After retiring he enjoyed gardening, and cooking, particularly making salsa, his enchiladas and his turkeys. When he was able, he also loved to grill. He enjoyed spending time with his cat, Sandy and his dog Buttons. He loved to play pitch at family gatherings.  He also loved watching television and watching Raiders football, the Yankees and the Jayhawk basketball team.

He loved making his routine rounds around Fredonia to the hardware store, convenience stores and other various stores.  He still looked forward to an occasional casino trip now and then.  Much of Richard's family preceded him in death. He passed peacefully on Thursday April 23rd, 2026, at Aspire Senior Living Joplin after battling recent health issues. He passed with his loved ones at his side. He leaves behind his wife Bonnie, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and extended family members. He is loved and will be missed greatly.
