1943-2026

Rebecca Sue (Hinshaw) Vincent, 82, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away May 26, 2026, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born on July 1, 1943, in Arlington, Kansas, the daughter of James E. and Virginia (Eliot) Hinshaw. Becky grew up in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School, with the class of 1961. She received her Bachelor of Education degree from Emporia State University and was certified to teach Spanish. After college, she worked for Hallmark Cards as an interpreter in Kansas City, secretary for the President of the First National Bank in Wichita, now known as Intrust Bank, and in the early 1970’s joined her father’s independent insurance agency in Arlington. Upon her father’s passing in 1975, Becky took over the business and managed it until her retirement in 2016. In addition to managing the family business, Becky found time to become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician and worked for Reno County ambulance for many years. She was also in demand as a motivational speaker. Becky was on the Emporia State Alumni Board for several years and served on the Arlington City Commission. Becky was a very accomplished lady. She could speak, read and write Spanish. She played the organ and piano at both the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches in Arlington for many years. Becky was a member of the Arlington Tea Ladies. She enjoyed quilting, did needlepoint, took care of her flower gardens, and made sure to feed the birds squirrels, rabbits, and other wildlife around her rural Sterling home. In her younger days, Becky enjoyed water, snow skiing, and horseback riding. For a while she even took up running and participated in fund raising marathon runs. In November of 1964, Becky married Richard L. Kendle, the father of Victoria. Richard died in February 1996. Becky met and married the love of her life, Dennis P. Vincent in 2018. She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Vincent of Sterling, KS, daughter, Victoria Cox (William) of Hutchinson, KS, four grandchildren, Savannah of Wichita, KS, Eliot, Vivian, and Will Cox Jr. all of Hutchinson, KS; and four great-grandchildren, Armando, Malaysia, Gustavo and O’Hana. Becky is preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Virginia (Eliot) Hinshaw. A private family graveside will be held at Arlington Cemetery, Arlington. Memorials may be given to Hospice House, Hutchinson in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling. The family wishes to thank the wonderful care givers at Hospice House.
