Paul Daniel Reed, 84, of Raymond, Kansas, passed away April 16, 2026, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita. He was born November 13, 1941, in Winslow, Arkansas, the son of James R. and Margaret “Maggie” (Yoder) Reed. Paul has resided in Raymond since 1988, formerly of Chase, Greensburg, and Kinsley, Kansas. He attended Greensburg High School. Paul served in the United States Navy from September 19, 1960 until his honorable discharge on October 10, 1962. Paul worked at Joiner Truck Service, Greensburg from 1978 until 1982. In 1982, Paul started working at Jayhawk Pipeline as a pipe liner and operator, until his retirement in 2004. After retirement, he worked for Ellinwood Tank Service until 2022, and then worked maintenance for the City of Raymond. Paul was a member of Greensburg Assembly of God Church, and NRA member. He was the past mayor of City of Raymond and a supporter of the 700 Club. Paul enjoyed working with his hands, tinkering with things, riding horses, listening to old classic country music, old cars, and most of all spending time with his family. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. On December 7, 1985, Paul was united in marriage with Loretta “Susie” Johnson in Greensburg, Kansas. Paul is survived by his wife, Susie Reed of Raymond, KS; six children, Sheila Martin of Lincoln, AR, Deneice Dolan and husband Luke of Winslow, AR, Angela Nestler of Hot Springs, AR, Eric Reed and significate other Tracy Reeves of Great Bend, KS, Robert Burel of Raymond, KS, and Holly Reed of Plevna, KS; three siblings, Linda Davis and husband Mark of Joplin, MO, Randall Reed and wife Nancy of Greensboro, KS, and Debra Johnson and husband Steve of Dodge City, KS; twelve grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Jeremy, Darin, Lindsay, Andrea, Justin, Wade, Cody, Kaitlynn, Kendra, and Halie; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul is preceded in death by his parents; son, Matt Hays; three brothers, George Henry Reed, Ernest Ray Reed, and J.R. Reed; and sister, Janie Kemp. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 20, 2026, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Pastor Oscar Gomez officiating. Burial will follow at the Raymond Hilltop Cemetery, Raymond, with military honors by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M., Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Birzer Funeral Home.
