Mary Lue Valentine
1931-2026

Mary Lue Valentine, 94, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away February 2, 2026, at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie, Kansas. She was born October 3, 1931, in Raymond, Kansas. Mary was a lifelong Sterling resident. She was a homemaker and held various jobs and positions around Sterling and the surrounding community. Mary was a member of the Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter #32 and the Rebekah Lodge #172 of Lyons. She was a wonderful seamstress and cook. Mary also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On February 28, 1947, Mary was united in marriage with Clifford Valentine, in Alden, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2007. She is also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Lisa Valentine; and seven siblings, Bob Cruth, Marion Cruth, Ralph Cruth, Ruby Locks, Jerry Cruth, Edith Capps, and Alva Cruth. Mary is survived by her three sons, Gene Valentine and wife Edie of Hutchinson, KS, Dennis Valentine and wife Lynn of Sterling, KS, and Ronald Valentine (Michele Abbott) of Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Sherry Trivitt and husband Gene of Wichita, KS, nine grandchildren, Barbara Miller, Bryan Valentine, Randy Valentine, Steven Valentine, Kelly Morrison, Wesley Trivitt, Ashley Trivitt, Jeff Valentine, and Katy Fawcett; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Alden Valley Cemetery, Alden, Kansas, with Chaplain Cindy Dubovich officiating. Memorials may be given to Reno County Hospice or Prairie Sunset Home in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
