1951-2026
Born on February 27, 1951, in Fredonia, daughter of Boyd and Margaret (Newland) Golay. Cathy spent her life rooted in the community she cherished. She attended Catholic school through eighth grade and graduated from Fredonia High School in 1969. She was a devoted Catholic, and her faith was a guiding force throughout her life.
On December 30, 1971, she married Harold Goodner. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and commitment. Cathy was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband and children: Mark Goodner and his wife, Madeleine; Terri Kay Barbera and her husband, Edgar “Fuzzy”; and Heather Boan and her husband, Troy. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: April, Aaron, Michael, Dillan, John, and Matthew and a great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren: Shayleigh and Wesley, and lifelong friend, Nancy
(Rhodes) Hodges, all of whom brought her immense joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Jimmy Golay, Jerry Golay, and Richard Golay, two sisters: Rita Vail and Cindy Seward, and longtime friend, Vonita Conner.
Cathy had a vibrant personality and a wonderful sense of humor. She could light up a room with her laughter and was known for cracking jokes and bringing smiles to those around her. She also enjoyed collecting pigs, angels, and Betty Boop items - treasures that reflected her fun-loving spirit.
