1943-2026
Mark slipped quietly into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, January 25, with his wife by his side. He is survived by his wife, Darlene, and their son, Matthew, as well as 4 brothers – Carl (Sharon), Dave (Sue), Dale (Jannie) and Dan (Kristi) and 2 sisters – Naomi (Ray) Ressler and Lois Weaver (Carl Kallansrud). He is survived by one grandson, Aiden Weaver, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Mark was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to David and Ida Weaver and grew up in Alabama and Mississippi. Mark met his wife Darlene at Hesston College in 1967 and they married on June 6, 1969. Matthew joined their family in April of 1982.
Mark and his wife served with Mission Aviation Fellowship in the Belgian Congo, Central Africa from 1973 - 1989. When they returned to the US, Mark taught at WATC as an aircraft maintenance instructor. Mark raised beef cattle and enjoyed life on the farm. He was an active member of Hesston Mennonite Church. After retiring, Mark and Darlene enjoyed RVing around the United States, exploring the world God created and were able to serve with Mennonite Disaster Service in Florida for a couple of months.
Mark enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved a good story – especially ones that reminded him of growing up in the South or of his time spent flying in Africa with MAF. He loved his family well and was confident in the faithfulness and goodness of God.
A memorial service is planned for 11:00am on Saturday, February 7th at Hesston Mennonite Church followed by a lunch. A private family burial will take place at Eastlawn Cemetery later in the day.
Memorial gifts may be made to Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) or Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, PO Box 32, Hesston, KS. 67062.
