1935-2026
In the quiet early hours surrounded by her loving family, Margaret Helen Davis of Wichita, Kansas, went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2026.
Born on March 23, 1935, in Wellington, Kansas. She was one of eight children of George and Fern Creed Bruce, growing up within families deeply rooted in history and rich in tradition. As her life so beautifully reflected, “A life lived in faith leaves an eternal legacy.”
She grew up in a home filled with laughter and devotion, attending the Church of Christ in Wellington and excelling in school, where she played in the band and was a cheerleader with a spirit that would never fade.
In 1953, she graduated from Wellington High School and married her high school sweetheart, Carl R. Davis, beginning a marriage of more than seventy years built on devotion, faith, and love.
Together, Margaret and Carl built a life rich with faith, family, and adventure raising five children—Linda, Richard, Sandra, Steven, and Darrell—and created a family rooted in kindness, encouragement, and faith. Her children, 13 grandchildren, and 21 great‑grandchildren were her greatest joy, each one a reflection of her love and strength.
Margaret’s faith guided every step of her life. She and Carl joined the Baptist Church while living in Florida, and their shared belief carried them through every season. Her gentle spirit and steadfast devotion touched everyone she met.
Margaret’s life was a testament to love’s endurance. She was a devoted wife, a steadfast mother, and a gentle encourager who believed in the power of faith and family. Her career at AT&T spanned 32 years, taking her to Topeka, KS, Garland, TX, Overland Park, KS, and finally back home to Wichita, where she rose to management through sheer determination and heart. Later, she consulted her expertise with Pepsico and supported Carl in their videography business. Their partnership reflected their lifelong teamwork.
When retirement came, Margaret and Carl turned the open road into their home, traveling to 48 states in their motor coach. They were volunteering, working, and making friends wherever they went. With the Elks Association and Good Sams Organization, they found community and joy, eventually returning to Wichita to rest among familiar faces and memories.
Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved Carl: Her parents, Fern and George Bruce; Siblings, (infant twins) Betty and Bonnie, Juanita, Robert, Mary, Luis, and Lois; and grandson Cristopher Davis.
She is survived by her children and their families:
• Linda Castillo of Wichita, KS, and her children Joshua Castillo, Emily Castillo Morales, and Amber Castillo
• Richard Davis of Mulvane, KS, and his children Ryan, Brandon, and Kyle Davis
• Sandra (Randy) Jones of Wichita, KS, and her children Aaron Jones, Ashley Jones Benteman, and Aleyah Jones
• Steven (Kelli) Davis of Bishop, CA, and his children Danielle Davis Holt, Britney Davis Saulque, and Lindsey Davis
• Darrell Davis of El Dorado, KS
Along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins—each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Margaret lived a life rich in meaning, faith, and love—a shining example of perseverance and joy to all who knew about her. Her legacy lives in the hearts of her family and the countless lives she has touched.
A celebration of her life will be held on April 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1415 S. Topeka Ave., Wichita, KS. Graveside services will follow in Mayfield, Kansas, Osbourne Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Carl.
