Margaret Gene (Genie) Schaller, 82, of New Strawn, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at her home.

She was born March 23, 1944, in Liberal, KS, the daughter of Milford and Leola (Katzer) Holmes. She graduated from Liberal High School and then moved to Wichita where she was employed by Price Auto Service.

On September 19, 1970, she and Keith Schaller were married in Wichita. They became the parents of three children. They moved from Wichita to the Twin Cities area in Minnesota and then to Denver, Colorado, later moving to New Strawn where Margaret was employed at the Wolf Creek Generating Station until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Phillip Schaller, II; and two sisters, Barbara Sue and Betty Kay.

She leaves Keith, her husband of more than 55 years; her children, Sam Dwight , Shon Schaller, Joplin, MO, and Phillip Schaller and wife Lisa, Sumter, SC; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 8, 2026, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington, KS. Burial will follow in Stringtown Cemetery northeast of Burlington.

The family will meet with friends from 9:30 until service time Friday at the funeral home.
