Margaret Ann BrummettHutchinson, KS

Margaret Ann Brummett 95, of Hutchinson, died February 9, 2026, at Legend Senior Living. She was born February 10, 1930, in Terlton, Oklahoma, to Joseph and Lydia (Haws) Eales.

Margaret moved to Hutchinson in 1937, graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson Community College, and received her bachelor’s degree from Sterling College. She taught first grade at Graber Elementary School for 23 years. Margaret was an active member of First United Methodist Church since 1944, where she sang in the choir for many years, was Circle leader of UM Women, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Double Circle Class since 1949. Margaret loved to read and you’d often find her with a book in her hand.

On May 26, 1949, Margaret married Claude E. Brummett, in Hutchinson. They shared over 53 years of marriage before his death on July 16, 2002.

She is survived by: her daughter, Jerri Laster (Ralph) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; son, Scott Brummett (Donita) of Wichita; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

Margaret was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Glenn Brummett; daughter-in-law, Mary Brummett; sisters, Fern Eales, Dorothy Robb; brothers, Cecil Eales and Dwight Eales.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Partridge Cemetery.

Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until the service. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. the day of the service.
