Marcella Ruth WoelkGoessel, KS

Marcella Ruth (Schmidt) Woelk, 93, of Goessel, KS passed away on July 29, 2026, at Bethesda Home in Goessel. She was born June 4, 1933, to Frank K. and Luise (Frey) Schmidt. She graduated from Goessel High School in 1951.

She married LeRoy W. Woelk on April 3, 1952, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. They were lifelong residents of Goessel. Marcella spent her career at Bethesda Home where she was employed for 45 ½ years retiring on January 2, 2017, from her purchasing agent position.

She is survived by her children Bryce L. (Kathy) Woelk of Goessel, Debra L. (Harris) Ewert of Hillsboro and Kelvin L. (Jennifer) Woelk of Fort Collins, CO; and two grandchildren, Amanda “A.J.” Wood (Stephen Pettigrew) of Valley Center, and Michael (Krysta) Woelk of Goessel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Alfred F. Schmidt, Orlando E. Schmidt and Elda (Flaming) Franz and her beloved husband, LeRoy.

Visitation is planned for Monday evening, Aug 3, at Bethesda Home Chapel in Goessel from 6-8 p.m. Memorial services are planned for Tuesday, Aug 4 with burial at 2:00 p.m. at the Goessel Mennonite Church Cemetery followed by services at Goessel Church at 3 p.m.
