Madeline “Kay” Schreiner
1951-2026

Madeline “Kay” Schreiner, 74, passed away peacefully July 16, 2026, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born August 24, 1951, in Hutchinson, to Warren and Martha (Darnell) Hinson.

Kay graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1969 and Adela Hale Business School. After finishing school, she worked at Far-Mar-Co and later Farmland before leaving when her son was born to be a stay-at-home Mom. When her son started school, she started work as a library aide at Morgan Elementary School and was there from 1993 until she retired in 2017. Kay enjoyed playing the drums, putting jigsaw puzzles together, and working crossword puzzles. After retiring she enjoyed riding her bicycle and would often ride from her home to Carey Park and back. She also enjoyed sitting on the front porch and visiting with the neighbors and watching the activity in the neighborhood. Kay was a member of Park Place Christian Church, Hutchinson.

On September 18, 1982, she married David Schreiner, at Park Place Christian Church.

Kay is survived by: her husband of almost 44 years, David Schreiner of Hutchinson; daughter, Angela Allen (Chad) of Hutchinson; son, Scott Schreiner of Wichita; grandchildren, Connor Allen, Emily Allen, Chloe Allen, Madison Schreiner, Breanne Schreiner, and Clara Schreiner; half-sister, Andrea Blair of TX; sister-in-law, Candi Hinson of Longview, TX; mother-in-law, Marilyn Schreiner of Lincoln, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Michael Hinson; father-in-law, Lauren Schreiner; and daughter-in-law, Tiffany Schreiner.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Park Place Christian Church, 2600 N. Adams, Hutchinson with Pastor Jerry Muncy officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Park Place Christian Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
