Lois Taylor
1947-2026

Lois Taylor, 79, passed away peacefully June 4, 2026, in her home. She was born on February 14, 1947, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Pauls) Ediger. She was joined by two brothers, Allen and Paul. The family lived on a farm near Inman.  When she was seventeen months old, Lois contracted polio. Although doctors were pleased with the extent of her recovery, the illness impacted the rest of her life resulting in multiple surgeries and for the last 23 years of her life, confining her to her home with post-polio pain.

She married the love of her life, (Alan) Kent Taylor on November 25, 1978. Their only daughter, Sherri Ann, was born May 5, 1980. A graduate of Inman High School and Adela Hale Business College, she held office positions at Farm Bureau Insurance and Doskocil.

Lois was an accomplished musician and developed a lively playing style on the piano and accordion. She accompanied congregational singing and many soloists and small groups. A beloved piano teacher, she introduced many young students to the joy of piano playing with the goal that they could participate in church worship.

Lois was a person of great faith in Jesus beginning in her childhood. It was the foundation of her life, giving strength and purpose. She was a member of Crestview Bible Church where in addition to playing piano she served on the music committee and edited the church newsletter.

When post-polio pain left her bedridden, she developed a card ministry, encouraging others and affecting countless lives by sending “love and hope” in the mail. She was particularly concerned with those who were hurting.  Lois loved talking on the phone, reading, praying and memorizing Scripture. She always had a pleasant, sweet, peaceful attitude, joy in her heart and a smile on her face. She loved Jesus very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; grandparents and many dear friends.

Survivors include her husband, Kent; daughter, Sherri (Michael) Rogers; grandsons, David, Jacob and Nathan Rogers; brothers, Allen (Charmaine) Ediger and Paul Ediger; brother and sisters in-law, Doug Taylor, Janet (Tracy) Shetter and Nancy (Steve) Jones; nine nieces and nephews; and many dear friends and caregivers.

Memorial service is Saturday, June 13,2026 at 11 am at Crestview Bible Church, 2401 North Halstead, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for Ruth Dougherty, TEAM Mission, P.O. Box 1683, Carol Stream, IL 60132-1683. Arrangements and care entrusted to Hutchinson Funeral Chapel & Crematory.
