Larry D. Wagerle, 85, died peacefully April 1, 2026, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, with his wife and two daughters by his side.
He was born August 20, 1940, to Henry Jacob and Stella Mary (Smith) Wagerle, at the family farmhouse in rural Rice County.
Larry graduated from Nickerson High School in 1958, Hutchinson Community College in 1960 and the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in 1963. Following pharmacy school he joined the Kansas Air National Guard, serving 6 years until he was honorably discharged. He began his pharmacy career at Coberly Drug in Hutchinson, Kansas where he met his future wife, Sue Lyn Hudson. In 1968 Larry began working at the Hutchinson Clinic Pharmacy and had a long and successful career spanning 45 years.
On June 19th, 1966, Larry married Sue Lyn Hudson at Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. They were blessed with two daughters, Megan and Jennifer.
Larry enjoyed volunteering for his church, Fair Priced Clothing Store, Meals on Wheels and Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He took great pride in gardening and landscaping around their home. Â Larry had a passion for all sports and faithfully cheered for the KU Jayhawks, Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs. He was proud that his daughters and two sons-in-laws all graduated from the University of Kansas. ROCK CHALK!
Larry was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 60 years and a member of the DOERS Sunday school class. He enjoyed his role as a church usher, which began in high school and continued until the time of his death.
Above all, Larry cherished time spent with his wife, daughters, sons-in-laws and grandchildren.  He was a proud, doting and supportive Poppa, attending nearly all of his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. Larry and Sue loved to travel and visited nearly all 50 states and many different countries over the years. Cherished memories were made during yearly family vacations with their children and grandchildren.
Larry is survived by: his wife of almost 60 years, Sue Wagerle of Hutchinson; daughters, Megan Kinney of Hutchinson, and Jennifer Howard (Chad) of Olathe; grandchildren, Molly Kinney of Kansas City, MO, Meredith Kinney of Shawnee, Luke Howard (Kati) of Gardner, and Sarah Howard of Manhattan; and sisters-in-laws, Lee Ann Moore (Ron) of Brady, TX and Elizabeth Hardinger (Charles) of Eugene, OR.
He was preceded in death by: Â his parents; brother, Ron Wagerle; and son-in-law, Mike Kinney.
Celebration of Life service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2026, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main Street, Hutchinson, with Pastor Craig Hauschild and the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Â Private inurnment will take place in the church columbarium. Friends may sign his book Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Â The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS Â 67501.
