LaNelle I. WelshSelma, KS

LaNelle Ione Welsh, age 90, of Selma, Kansas, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Heartland Meadows in Iola, Kansas.

Born on February 24, 1936, in Anderson County, Kansas, she was the daughter of Lester and Loella (Klooz) DePoe. She graduated from Kincaid High School. On December 14, 1954, she was united in marriage to Gerald Welsh in Lone Elm, Kansas. Together, they were an amazing couple, and their union was blessed with six children.

LaNelle was a dedicated mother who did a great job raising her six children through all their "orneriness." She was a very hard worker who took great pride in her home and family. Outside of her work, she found joy in gardening, crocheting, and reading. Her faith was central to her life, as evidenced by her commitment as a dedicated member of her church and her faithful service playing the piano every Sunday for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Loella DePoe; her husband, Gerald Welsh, in 2010; her son, Donald Welsh, in 2021; and brother, Larry DePoe, in 2016.

LaNelle is survived by two sons, Daniel Welsh and wife Carla of McGregor, Texas, and Lester Welsh and wife Deborah of Garnett, Kansas; three daughters, Christena McGhee and husband Kendall of Neosho Falls, Kansas, Pamela Yoder and husband Andy of Welda, Kansas, and Beth Davis and Donnie Ramsey of Colony, Kansas; brother, Lonnie DePoe and wife Bobbye of Lone Elm, Kansas; sister-in-law, Sandy DePoe of Lone Elm, Kansas; twenty grandchildren; many great-grandchildren as well as great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, June 22, 2026 at Kincaid Selma Community Church. Burial will follow at Kincaid Cemetery. (UPDATE - The visitation scheduled Suday evening will not take place due to another death in the family.)  Memorial contributions may be made to Kincaid Selma Community Church and can be left in the care of the funeral home.
