Kenneth "Ken" Wedeman passed away on May 17, 2026, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Ken was born on March 24, 1942, in Lone Elm, Kansas, to Les "Doc" and Thelma Pearl (Powell) Wedeman. He attended school in Colony, Kansas, before eventually making his home in Lawrence, where he spent the remainder of his life.
Ken worked as a janitor for the University of Kansas, a place that helped grow his lifelong love for the Jayhawks. No matter the sport, if the Jayhawks were playing, Ken was cheering them on. His passion for KU athletics became a central part of his life and brought him great joy through the years.
Ken lived a simple life and was content with the things that mattered most to him,his routines, and his unwavering support for the Jayhawks. He will be remembered for his quiet nature, loyal spirit, and the genuine happiness he found in the teams he loved.
He leaves behind family and friends who will cherish his memory.
Ken is survived by his brother, Wendell Wedeman and sister Eileen Callaway; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd and wife Ruth Wedeman and Wilbur and wife Winonna Wedeman; sister-in-law, Venissia Wedeman, and brother-in-law, Bob Callaway.
A graveside memorial service will take place at 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 22, 2026, at Geneva Cemetery in Colony, Kansas.
