Kathyrn L. Smith, 68, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026 at her home in McPherson, Kansas. She was born, April 23, 1957 in McPherson, Kansas, the daughter of Bob and Carolyn (Peden) Geiman.

Kathy attended McPherson grade school and graduated from McPherson High School in 1975. She then attended Colby Community college and Kansas State University.

Kathy was united in marriage to Hal Smith on August 13, 1977 in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of a son, Brad.

She enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid horseman, loved showing horses and team roping, teaching others how to ride and rope, loved her dogs, attending her grandkids rodeo and sporting events and spending time with her friends and family.

Kathy worked as a school bus driver for USD 400 for 17 years and was the bus superintendent, while maintaining the ranch.

She is survived by her husband, Hal; her son, Brad (Jenny) Smith; grandchildren, Breck, Blain and Brody Smith, all of McPherson; her mother, Carolyn Geiman of McPherson; a sister, Kim (Ted) Morris of McPherson; and a brother, Kent (DeeDee) Geiman of Huffman, Texas.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father Bob Geiman; and her grandparents Ivan and Opal Peden.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Friday, January 30, 2026 at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel. Funeral service will be 10:30 am, January 31, 2026 with Pastor Garrett Rolland officiating, at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
