Kathryn Lynn JensenEllinwood,KS

Kathryn Lynn Jensen, 71, passed away March 3, 2026, at The University of Kansas Health Systems – St. Francis Campus, Topeka, Kansas. She was born on October 25, 1954, in Ellinwood, Kansas, to Donald and Jean (Bowker) Jensen.

Kathyn was a graduate from Ellinwood High School and member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She spent time as a manager in Iowa, where she suffered a stroke. Kathryn then moved to Hays to be closer to family during her recovery and to continue her education at Fort Hays State University, graduating with her bachelor’s degree in sociology. She then became a resident of Topeka and worked for the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability. Kathryn was a fierce advocate for the disabled – testifying at the state capital for rights and equality for disabled individuals, something she personally experienced. Kathryn was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Topeka.

Survivors include two brothers, Josh Jensen and partner Antonio Roman of San Diego, California, and Jon Jensen and wife Paula of Topeka; brother-in-law, George Weis of Richardson, Texas; sister-in-law, Sally Jensen of Great Bend; six nieces and nephews, Jennifer Graves and husband Brian of Oregen, Arianna Shehane and husband Nate of Texas, Justin Jensen of Great Bend, Rebekah Schenk and husband Logan of Topeka, Rachel Innes and husband Jeremy of Topeka, and Zachary Jensen of Topeka; six great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jeffrey Jensen; and sisters, Karen Ireland and Kristine Weis.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2026, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ellinwood, Kansas, with Pastor Kenton Abbott presiding. Inurnment will follow at Lakin Comanche Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to the Disability Rights Center of Kansas, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
